Sri Lanka's Vimuktha de Alwis set up a final showdown with Vishal
Passi from India in the Asian Tennis Federation under 14 boys tournament
at SLTA courts, Colombo. The boys singles week-1 champion, Vimuktha
routed Digvijay Singh Naruka, India in straight sets 6/2, 6/2 to meet
Passi in the final.
Vimuktha rallied around through his accuracy and added the finishing
touches in a spectacular manner. He got his act together well and made
certain that the semi final did not last the full distance. The Lankan
lad committed very few mistakes and did well to make advantage from his
opponents mistakes.
Vimuktha's entry into the final had a great amount of significance
considering the fact that he was unseeded while his opponent to meet in
the final was ranked number 5. Passi beat Abdul Razak (Malaysia) in a
gruelling three setter in the semi finals (6/1, 2/6, 7/5).
Tarranum Handa of India posted an easy straight set win over her team
mate Megha Sehrawat (6/2, 6/0) to emerge champion in the girls
category.An Indian duo Tarranum Handa and Megha Sehrawat clinched the
girls double title when they defeated Ishka Peerth partnered by Bhavika
Vadawan also from India in an easy final.
The former took the first set at 6/1 and their counterparts had to
retire as early as in the second set.
