Kelani Cables export turnover targets 25%

Local cable manufacturer in the country Kelani Cables is targeting 25
percent of their annual turnover through cable exports within three
years.
Managing Director of Kelani Cables Hemantha Perera said that company
now establishes a special division only to focus on export market.
Company expects to enter in to India, Pakistan and Nepal markets at the
initial stage.
He was speaking at the launching ceremony of Kelani Brand's truly Sri
Lankan accreditation of "Suriya Singhe" Logo awarded by Mawbima Lanka
Foundation, which was held yesterday. Kelani Cables was the first local
manufacturer to receive the Suriya Singhe status.
Perera said, local manufacturers are now in the position of competing
with the foreign brands, which come to the local market. It is important
to promote our local products to save the large amount of foreign
exchange and in turn contribute to the economic growth in the country.
Kelani Cables is proud to launch their products with the new concept
of "Ganna Ape De" in order to promote local entrepreneurs and
encouraging to compete with the other imported brands in the market.
Company will be given future investment plans in promoting their
products with this new concept, he said.

said that they launched Mawbima Foundation last August to promote local
products and they were able to give "Suriya Singhe" status for large
amount of products.
