Royal clinch boys under 17 tennis title

Royal College registered a convincing straight sets win over Ananda College to clinch the under 17 boys team tennis title in their Sri Lanka Schools Under 17 Tennis Tournament concluded at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts, yesterday.

Led by Shehan Gomez Royalists swamped Ananda College by 3-0 in the final.

The champion outfit comprised Shehan Gomez, Indika Wettasinghe, Ashan de Silva, Zakeer Mohamed, Alexan Subramanium, Praveen Gopallawa, Bhagya Gunawardane, Rushman de Silva.

Annada College team comprised Anjana de Silva, Rachitha Weerasinghe, Nevin de Silva, Denuka Sumithrarachchi, Kisal Gamage, Anisha Weragoda, Roshan Wickramaratne, Dulik Wadanambi, Sanjeewa Gunapala, Sisara Nelumdeniya. In the consolation final for the third place St. Peter's College outplayed Trinity College easily in a three setter 3-0.

The other teams who vied for honours in this event are D.S. Senanayake College, Nalanda College, Thurstan College, Isipathana College, St. Peter's College, S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, S. Thomas', Preparatory, Trinity College, De Mazenod College, Kandana, St. Benedict's College, Kotahena, St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa, St. Joseph's College.
