Lankans down under bless war heroes

A ceremony to offer the blessings of the Triple Gem for the War Heroes and to pray for the speedy recovery of the injured soldiers was held at the Sri Lanka Temple in Perth on May 4. .

The event was organised by the Western Australian Chapter of United Sri Lanka (SPUR).

The Chief incumbent of the temple Ven Beruwala Sri Sobhitha Thera, Sanghanayaka in Australia of Amarapura Nikaya and Ven. Hettipola Seevalee Thera a visiting monk conducted the ceremony.

A large gathering of Australians of Sri Lankan origin participated.

The venerable monks in their anusasana observed the importance of the role played by the security forces to maintain the territorial integrity of the country and to irradicate terrorism so Sri Lanka, can once again be restored to what it was once in which all her children irrespective of caste, creed or religion live amicably.

"We are indebted for those heroes who made the supreme sacrifice so that the country could prosper and the people could live a normal life.

Their last breath will be inhaled by the current and future generations of Sri Lankans with immense gratitude", he said.

Those gallant sons and daughters of Mother Lanka who are confined to hospital beds suffering unbearable pain fought at the front so the Sri Lankan people could have a normal life.
