LTTE terrorists commit bloodbath against civilians; Piliyandala

24 killed, over 40 wounded

LTTE terrorists have carried out a cowardly bomb attack targeting innocent civilians who were returning home after office hours at Pliyandala this evening. According to the police sources, the bomb has been exploded inside a Ceylon Transport Board bus parked at Piliyandala, public bus stand.

LTTE Radio Transmissions have confirmed that 71 Tigers perished in the confrontation between the Army and the LTTE at the Army FDL north and south of the A9 route at Muhamalai, Commander Security Forces Jaffna Major General G.A. Chandrasiri said.

SLFP General Secretary Minister Maithripala Sirisena said yesterday that even President J.R. Jayewardene who introduced the 13th Amendment failed to hold an Eastern Provincial Council Election and this is the very first time it is being held after the introduction of the 13th Amendment.
