Vote UPFA for Eastern development - Salma Hamza

People should not believe bankrupt political parties and cast their valuable votes for them, said the General Secretary, Sri Lanka Democratic Party, Salma Hamza.

She was addressing a propaganda meeting at Goodwin junction, Kattankudy on Monday April 21 in support of the United People Freedom Alliance (UPFA) candidates contesting the Eastern Provincial Council election.

Salma Hamza said, the Government extended its support for all the communities without any discrimination. She said the UNP has lost people's confidence due to bankrupt policies. Since that party had no influence at all, it could not contest the Local Government election held in certain parts of the Batticaloa district recently.

Salma Hamza said the Government led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa had clear cut policies which gained peoples confidence.

The continuous victory of the UPFA proves that the people are very supportive of the Government and extend their fullest co-operation for the Mahinda Chintana programme introduced by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

She said thousands of villages have been improved islanwide. Many of these villages have been provided electricity and infrastructure facilities.

Employment facilities Economic Empowerment, Agricultural Development and the educational standard have greatly improved under the administration of the Government. Salma Hamza said the people in the Batticaloa district should extend their fullest support to the UPFA to ensure a landslide for the Government at the forthcoming election in the Eastern Province so that they could fulfil our aspirations and needs.

Democratic elections through its representatives play a crucial role for the development of villages.

In the Provincial Council Election, people of this area must select the candidates from the Government party. It would pave the way to develop the Eastern Province and to raise the living standard of the people affected for more than two decades of conflict.
