Air Force attacks Tiger communications facility

Air Force supersonic fighter jets bombed at LTTE covert communication facility located at Panikkankulam in general area south of Kokavil in Mullaittivu last afternoon, the Media Centre for National Security said.

According to the Air Force spokesperson Wing Commander Andrew Wijesooriya, the air sorties were conducted at 12.30 p.m. by SLAF Kfir jets.

The targeted LTTE communications facility was destroyed earlier due to an air strike launched on November 25, 2007 and it had been used as a relaying centre for establishing communication among LTTE bases and cadres.

The target was engaged as it is observed recent re-establishment of the facility through ground information. The pilots confirmed that the target was hit accurately.
