Browns ‘Rumours’ continues

Browns Group believes that the Browns Katakatha Aththai promotion will deliver great offers to a wide spectrum of customers during the festive season.

CEO/MD of the Browns Group Murali Prakash said, “This promotion is unique in the fact that we have leveraged our group strength to offer our customers a range of excellent products tied up with some great benefits such as free gifts and discounts”.

Speaking further Prakash said that the Browns Group is not a company only engaged in selling consumer durables but a much wider group who markets products from tractors to business solutions, environmental services, marine engines to automobile batteries.

General Manager for Brands and Corporate Affairs Suresh Tissaaratchy said that the Browns Group “Katakatha Aththi” promotion was based on leveraging some of the best brands that the Company markets and rewarding its key customers for their loyalty.

He added that the aim of this promotion was to raise awareness on the different products and services Browns Group markets and that this particular promotion was unique since in most segments everyone who purchases one of their brands becomes a winner.

Browns Agriculture who have been the pioneers in the agriculture industry in Sri Lanka market some of the leading brands of tractors, namely, Massey Ferguson, Tafe, Sifang and Yongtuo. These products are in both the two wheel and four-wheel categories and have been tried and tested by the Sri Lankan customer.

The segment of the Promotion, which pertains to tractors, ensures that everyone who purchases any tractor from the Browns Group becomes a winner.

Once an individual purchases a tractor from a Browns Centre or dealer islandwide, he/she will be given a scratch card which could win them free gifts ranging from tractor trailers, TVs, Hi-Fi systems, DVDs, gas cookers, CDMA phones, and tool sets, Speaking further the GM Brands said “This is probably the first time in Sri Lanka where everyone who purchases a tractor is ensured of a valuable gift”.

The Browns Group is the largest supplier of tractors in both the two wheel and four-wheel sectors in Sri Lanka.

Another item included in the Browns Promotion is the durable BG water Pump. Anyone who purchases a BG water pump will get two Usha Lexus energy saving CFL bulbs free.

The BG water pumps come in 0.5 HP, 0.75HP and 1.0 HP and are available at all Browns Centres and Dealers islandwide. BG water pumps carry the unique after sales feature of 24-hour service response within Colombo city limits and 48-hour service response time outside Colombo city limits.

Browns Group has catered to both their corporate and individual customer bases by extending the Promotion to their Office Automation division.

When customers walk into Browns Centres and purchase fax machines, copiers or cash registers they stand to win fax machines, organisers, calculators and great discounts.

Furthermore customers who purchase any consumer electronic item from the thirty Browns Centres islandwide could win 20inch and 14 inch colour TV’s, gas cookers, DVD players, docking stations, discounts and much more. Two new Browns Centres have been opened at Horana and Hatton to serve the customer base better.

According to GM Brands the Browns Battery Division’s contribution to delivering more value to the customer base consists of giving them the chance to win free sunshades upon purchasing Exide batteries from all outlets in the dealer network, recently pioneered an innovation in customer service through the launch of its one stop service station “Power Mart” at Havelock Road Colombo 5.


Schweppes is getting bigger and better

Schweppes Soda, which was introduced to the local market late, last year by Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Limited is getting bigger and better to cater to the ever growing needs of its customer base.

The Company has introduced Schweppes Soda to the local market in a 1.5 ltr PET package to complement the forthcoming festive season. The production is carried out at the existing PET bottling line at the Coca-Cola bottling plant thus increasing the productivity of the facility.

The Schweppes brand is one of the oldest known brands of carbonated soft drinks and dates beyond the beginning of Coca-Cola’s own illustrious history.

Today the brand is known for its premium range of soda waters and tonic.

With the introduction of the giant PET bottle Schweppes is supporting the consumer who is looking for a ‘take home’ pack and further endorses the ‘mix with the best’ concept.

Schweppes as a brand has been known as a premium adult beverage brand throughout the world. Schweppes currently enjoys being the leading carbonated brand in Europe and Australia while also being the leading mixer brand in the United States as well. Originally begun with tonic water, Schweppes now offers a range of flavours for the adult palette, and has positioned itself as the ideal mixer for cocktails.

The brand is available in the forms of Tonic water, Soda water and Ginger Ale, which are available in 330 ml cans while the Soda is now available in 1.5 ltr packs.

The product will be available at all leading supermarkets and top end clubs and bars, predominantly in the western province and selected Towns islandwide. Speaking on this brand expansion Dusty Alahakoon, Country Marketing Manager for Coca-Cola Sri Lanka commented, “Schweppes has been a flagship brand for the Coca-Cola Company worldwide and with the success it showed in the local market during the past few months we decided to introduce this take home pack.

From the birth of the Schweppes brand in 1783, the brand has grown internationally to produce a range of over fifty flavours throughout the world. Similar to Coca-Cola, Schweppes has also created history with some of its marketing campaigns, such as the 1950’s “Schweppeshire” campaign and the 1960’s “Schhh... You- Know-Who” campaigns. Its entry into the Sri Lankan beverage market promises to create new bubbles in the local sparkling beverage industry.


AMW community dialogue

Associated Motorways under their Corporate Social Responsibility Programme facilitated a community dialogue between 124 persons from low income level families resident at Kitulwatte Road, Borella, Colombo and the Community Police, Health and Fire Prevention Officers of Colombo Municipality.

The meeting was held on the fourth of this month at 1.30 p.m. at U.N. Gunasekara assembly hall at Elwitigala Road, Borella where the officer in charge of the community police at Borella Police, S. Thilakasiri and Fire Officer of the Colombo Municipality M. M. Lokowitharana and Public Health Inspector of the Colombo Municipality S. A. Bandara educated the area residents on threats to national security, fire prevention methods and control of epidemics respectively. On this occasion Deputy Managing Director of Associated Motorways Ranjan De Silva distributed exercise book packets to 122 schoolchildren living in the area.

Allied Trading and Engineering records significant expansion

CEO of Allied Trading and engineering (Pvt) Ltd Rajah Abeysinghe, signed a dealership agreement with Metech Industries Sdn Bhd S. L. Wong after having installed racking systems in Sri Lanka for Paxar Lanka, Sri Lankan Airlines, Smart Shirts, Ceylon Biscuits, DSI, BAM Gro, Ceylon Knit Trend, Samson Silva and Sons, Textile International, Premasiri Supermarket, among others.

With the design, supply and installation of a Drive-in Racking System for Ceylon Biscuits Ltd at their Kurunegala and Pannipitiya Warehouses, and the novel Three Tier Racking System designed for Smart Shirts in Katunayake, the minimum floor area had been utilised to maximum usage with this unique racking system.

Allied Trading and Engineering (Pvt) Ltd was established in 1995 when they were appointed the Hyster Forklift dealership in Sri Lanka. They now provide a Total Material Handling Solution with forklift trucks, self-propelled lifts and racking systems.

Metech Industries Sdn Bhd has created a new brand name in the year 2000 for its third generation design profiles, which is of a much higher quality standard of racking systems under the label “Metech Racking Systems”.
