Union Assurance commences Crime Prevention Project

Displaying the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility Union Assurance PLC commenced its 7th Phase in Eastern Province by installing crime prevention awareness boards.

This is a unique project Union Assurance started together with the Sri Lanka Police in order to minimize the crime rate in the country by erecting display boards with the telephone numbers of the relevant Police Stations to encourage citizens to call and inform the authorities when they detect crime. This also helps the motorist to identify the relevant Police area they are in.

This unique project initially started out from the Western Province of the island in 2005 and gradually extended as an island wide project, covering the Provinces all right through, including the Western, North Western, Southern, Central, Sabaragamuwa, North Central, Provinces, also extending towards the East of the island. A total of 234 crime prevention boards have already been mounted throughout the island.

Union Assurance handed over the continuous maintenance of the hoardings and sheltered checkpoints to an authoritative agency, in order to assure that the already existing hoardings and checkpoints never get abandoned & are maintained in proper condition.

This project was navigated by Mahinda Gunesekara - Manager Marketing Operations of Union Assurance PLC. He thanked Deshamanya Rienzie Perera - Deputy Inspector General of Police and the Sri Lanka Police Department for the support in making this a reality.
