Top 100 brands in Sri Lanka released by LMD
Singer (Sri Lanka) emerges as Sri Lanka's strongest brand with an
'AA+' rating; followed by an 'AA' rating for Cargills Food City, Dialog
and SriLankan Airlines, leading business magazine reports, in it's April
issue which is now available at leading retail stores.
Brand Finance, which produced the exclusive ratings, noted in LMD:
"Our analyses suggest there is high brand equity in many unlisted brands
in the 18 categories that were subject to extensive research.
These brands include DSI, S-Lon, Panadol, Lanka Bell, David Pieris
Motor Company, Bata, Sri Lanka Insurance and Holcim.
Thus, brand-value creation isn't the exclusive preserve of listed
companies - rather, the inaccessibility to financial data precludes us
from listing these brands."
Other brands that take honours in the ratings stakes include Elephant
House and Ceylinco Insurance (AA-); and People's Bank, SLT and
Commercial Bank (A+).
Brand Finance says it commissioned an extensive market research study
of consumers to determine the equity of brands that made its rankings.
Research was conducted across a representative sample of 1,600 consumers
in September last year, by leading research firm TNS Lanka.
"Since there were a large number of brands spread across 18
categories, they were grouped into three related segments and
face-to-face interviews were carried out with 533 consumers in each
segment,", Brand Finance's CEO in LMD Ruchi Gunewardene said.
"In this study, brands that are listed on the CSE were compared with
their competitors, irrespective of whether or not they are listed
brands. |
