Speed Sri Lanka powers Dilantha Malagamuwa on international circuits

Sri Lanka’s unsung motor racing hero Dilantha Malagamuwa who brought
fame to his motherland winning the Malaysia Super Series for a second
time in succession has come up with a novel idea and formed a racing
team named as Speed Sri Lanka in the early part of 2008.
Dilantha who is classed as the fastest local driver to drive on
foreign circuits is of the view that forming a racing team is sure to
bring in good results for the sport on the long run.
The main objective of this team is give an opportunity for our hero
to give the support needed to bring in more laurel to mother Lanka while
promoting and encouraging motor racing in Sri Lanka.
Dilantha has been a regular competitor in the Asia’s prestigious
events like the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA), Aston Martin Asia Cup
and the Malaysian Super Series..
With the formation of the Speed Sri Lanka Racing team Dilantha is
highly confident that the International Motor Sport will get a step
closer to the common man here.
The Speed Sri Lanka Racing team sponsors have also made arrangements
to televise all these events for the benefit of the local motor racing
fans in Sri Lanka weekly through Sirasa Sport 1st commencing March 29th.
This year too Dilantha looks forward to compete in all three major
events mentioned above to bring honour and prestige along with the Speed
Sri Lanka Team..
Dilantha who is well renowned and highly respected on the
international circuit now commenced his motor racing career as a rider
at the age of 18.
Though his parents specially the father he took a firm stance to move
on to the track with determination and courage.
From ther eonwards ther was no stopping he continued winning in the
local circuit in a few years move to car events while racing onm bikes.
Dilantha never received the local acclaim for his achievements on
international circuits but he is confident of himself and says that he
is determined to make hattrick this season..The season gets off mark
this week end with the Region’s Premier Sports Car Series, the Porsche
Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA), which is poised to unleash its strongest field.
Eighteen exceptional sports car drivers from across Asia, the Pacific
and Europe, all driving identical 2008-spec, Michelin-shod Porsche 911
GT3 Cup cars, will take to the Sepang International Circuit Malaysia for
the first two races of the 11-round season.
Dilantha with the support from Speed Sri Lanka is rearing to get
behind the wheels and start off the season as shown by his performance
during the testing weekend where he has improved greatly on his previous
timing.
Checkout PCCA round 1 and 2 on Sirisa/Channel 1 at 2.30pm and 5.30pm
respectively and prepare yourself for a thrilling season which starts on
March 29 March 2008. |
