Eight Tigers killed

Eight LTTE cadres were killed and two of their bunkers destroyed in an ambush carried out by the Army Special Infantrymen on Wednesday evening in West of Omanthai, Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.

The Infantrymen launched a surprise attack targeting a tractor carrying Tiger cadres in the Konthakarankulama area, West of Omanthai around 5.00 p.m.

“Troops penetrated successfully into the LTTE Forward Lines and ambushed the LTTE movement killing all five Tigers travelling on a tractor,” Brigadier Nanayakkara said.

Soldiers also destroyed two LTTE bunkers and killed another three Tiger cadres, he added.
