Singer cagers victorious

Singer Sri Lanka posted a thrilling 31 points to 29 victory over Srilankan Airlines (B) in a D division fixture of the ongoing Mercantile Super League Basketball Tournament played at MCA Courts, conducted by the Mercantile Services Basketball Association and sponsored by the Delmege.

The half time scores stood at 23 points to 17 with the winners taking the lead. Anjelo Krishan did well for Singer with 15 points while P. Nanditha (11) was the lone scorer for the losers.

In a `C' division match Seylan Bank defeated Ceylinco by 57 points to 35 played at same venue. The winners were well ahead with 33 points to 15 at breather. Gayan Samaraweera (22) and R. Bandara (12) excelled for Seylan Bank. D. Sameera (16) and S. Perera with seven points stood out for Ceylinco Group.

In another C division fixture played at MCA courts David Peiris Motor Company (B) cagers overcame Nations Trust Bank (B) by 67 points to 43 after leading 30 points to 17 at short whistle. N. Kumarasinghe (22) and Jude Saranga (16) were the chief scorers for DPMC while S. Weerasooriya (13) and H. Perera (15) were the outstanding players for NTB.

Seylan Bank women outplayed David Peiris Motor Company by 67 points to 52 after grabbing a healthy 39 points to 23 lead at breather in an A division women's fixture worked off at Otters courts. I. Sandamali (20) and Premila Fernando (19) were the top scorers for the winners while S. Gomes (21) and H. Indraratne (10) were the best shooters for the losers.

In a men's A division match Dialog Telekom beat Nations Trust Bank (A) by 74 points to 65 after taking a close 29 points to 27 lead at breather. D. Rajapakse (12) and L. Withanage (15) was on target for Dialog with M. Jayaratne (20) and S. Kapildev (16) stood out for NTB.
