Three female Sea Tiger leaders killed

Navy intelligence has confirmed that three senior level female Sea Tiger cadres were among the 10 Tiger cadres killed in the air attack on the inland Sea Tiger Base west of Kilinochchi on Friday, Navy sources told the Daily News yesterday.

According to the Naval intelligence the three senior level female Sea Tiger leaders killed in the air raid have been identified as self-styled ‘Lt. Colonel’ Kalai Arasi, ‘Major’ Thuvarika and ‘Lieutenant’ Senthamanee.

Nine others have also been injured in this air strike.

The self styled ‘Lt. Colonel’ Kalai Arasi has been identified as the Chief Female Sea Tiger instructor of the LTTE and the she was in charge of the ‘Surali’ armed LTTE craft.

The armed craft which has been fitted with two 200 HP engines has also been destroyed in the air strike. The Sea Tiger used to transport their boats to inland bases after loading them in tractors and the ‘Surali’ has been destroyed as it had been taken to this inland Sea Tiger base.

According to Navy intelligence the LTTE has used this inland base to train their female Sea Tiger cadres. Navy sources said that the LTTE has declared a two kilometres stretch surrounding this inland Sea Tiger base a ‘high security zone’ and sealed off the area without allowing civilian access.
