Forces advance continues in Mannar

The troops operating in the Mannar battle front yesterday advanced further in to Tiger territory on three fronts from Thiruketheeshvaran, Uyilankulam and Palakkuli amidst stiff resistance from the LTTE, a senior Army official told the Daily News.

Two civilians killed in suicide blast

Two civilians, reportedly members of the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal were killed yesterday as an LTTE suicide cadre blew himself opposite the Kali Kovil in Kalavanchikudi in Batticaloa yesterday morning, Police and Military said.

Three female Sea Tiger leaders killed

Navy intelligence has confirmed that three senior level female Sea Tiger cadres were among the 10 Tiger cadres killed in the air attack on the inland Sea Tiger Base west of Kilinochchi on Friday, Navy sources told the Daily News yesterday.
