Russian bomber cuts into Japanese airspace
JAPAN: A Russian air force bomber briefly entered Japanese airspace
over an island chain in the Pacific Ocean south of Tokyo early Saturday,
a press report said.
The Japanese foreign ministry filed a strong protest over the
incident which occurred for about three minutes from 7:30 am (2230 GMT
Friday), Kyodo News reported. No official was immediately available at
the ministry to confirm the report.
The bomber flew over the southern part of the Izu Island chain, which
stretches south from Oshima, some 100 kilometres (60 miles) south of
Tokyo, the report said.
