Security Forces request Vakarai - Colombo passenger bus service

The Security Forces have requested a new bus service for Vakarai, to effect a Vakarai-Colombo passenger transport service.

They have asked the Government authorities to take steps to deploy Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) buses or private buses to operate the service Vakarai-Colombo and Colombo- Vakarai.

The Forces say, their services have been fully established in Vakarai from the time they flushed the LTTE terrorists from the area and cleared it.

The SLTB had operated a passenger transport service from Vakarai to Colombo before the area was cleared by the Security Forces, they said.

A bus service is currently operative from Mutur to Batticaloa through Vakarai.

Six police posts have been established in Vakarai by the police department to maintain civil law in the area providing protection to the people who resettled in the area after it has been cleared of the LTTE.
