Super League, Novices finals from today
The finals of the inter-club tournament cycle, the Super League Chess
Championship, will be held at Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte, along with the
finals of the Novices Chess Championship, from February 1-4, according
to officials from the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka.
The following teams have qualified direct for the Super League: Nf3
CC, Reborn CCC, Ruhunu Chess Academy, Devapathiraja College CC, Vishy
Anand Chess Club, Kandy Chess Club, Passed Pawn CC, Paul Morphy CC,
Royal College CC, Devans CC and Panadura CC.
In addition, Fischer CCC and Swiss46 CC, which were placed first and
second respectively in the Inter Club 'B' Tournament, have qualified for
the Super League along with the Inter Club Women's Champions, Paul
Morphy Chess Club.
The finalists for the Novices Championship were earlier found from
four zonal qualifying events held in Colombo, Kandy, Galle and
Kurunegala.
The Novices tournament is the entry level event for the National
Cycle, which includes the Major, National 'B' and the National 'A' (the
apex event which serves as a selection tournament for the team that will
represent the country at this year's Chess Olympiad).
All players are required to report at the venue by 2.30 p.m on
February 1.
