The finals of the inter-club tournament cycle, the Super League Chess Championship, will be held at Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte, along with the finals of the Novices Chess Championship, from February 1-4, according to officials from the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka.

The following teams have qualified direct for the Super League: Nf3 CC, Reborn CCC, Ruhunu Chess Academy, Devapathiraja College CC, Vishy Anand Chess Club, Kandy Chess Club, Passed Pawn CC, Paul Morphy CC, Royal College CC, Devans CC and Panadura CC.

In addition, Fischer CCC and Swiss46 CC, which were placed first and second respectively in the Inter Club 'B' Tournament, have qualified for the Super League along with the Inter Club Women's Champions, Paul Morphy Chess Club.

The finalists for the Novices Championship were earlier found from four zonal qualifying events held in Colombo, Kandy, Galle and Kurunegala.

The Novices tournament is the entry level event for the National Cycle, which includes the Major, National 'B' and the National 'A' (the apex event which serves as a selection tournament for the team that will represent the country at this year's Chess Olympiad).

All players are required to report at the venue by 2.30 p.m on February 1.
