First group of Palestinian tourists to visit Sri Lanka

The first group of 40 Palestinian tourists from Bethlehem and Ramallah will leave for Sri Lanka from Palestine today via Jordan. Dr. T. Jayasinghe, Representative of Sri Lanka in Palestine has issued the required visas.

The leader of the tourist group, hotellier Michel Kreitem, told Dr. Jayasinghe that there are some more persons willing to visit Sri Lanka and he will organise more tours after he returns from the first tour.

Issuance of visas by the Representative Office in Palestine has made it easy for the Palestinians to travel to Sri Lanka as most Palestinians are not allowed to enter Israel to obtain visas from the Embassy of Sri Lanka at Tel Aviv in Israel.

Dr. Jayasinghe has requested Sri Lanka Tourist Board to give this group a grand welcome and encourage the organisers to bring more tourists from Palestine.

In the meantime Raha Travels in Ramallah has opened a special counter to facilitate all Palestinians visiting Sri Lanka providing them with all information about hotels etc.
