SLT expands pre-paid services through Abans branch network

Sri Lanka Telecom has tied up with Abans, one of the largest retailers in the country, to expand its sales distribution channel for its pre-paid products. These include domestic voice, international voice and the Internet services.

SLT’s pre-paid products include SLT Passport (domestic and international calling cards), SLT Maxtalk (international calling card) powered by SLT superior VoIP technology and SLTnet Internet Pre-paid cards.

With this initiative, SLT will be able to offer pre-paid products to its customers via the wide branch network and franchising units of Abans and A-Z Electronics in addition to island wide SLT Teleshops, SLT Regional Offices, authorized dealers and super market chains.


Agreement: Chief Marketing and Sales Officer/SLT Ajantha Seneviratne, Deputy General Manger, SLT (Consumer Sales) Anuruddha Suriyarachchi, Director, AZ Electronics (Pvt) Ltd Ajith Waidyalankara, Manager Consumer Marketing /SLT Roomy Anver, and CEO/SLT Shoji Takahashi at the signing of the agreement.

Speaking on the fruition of the business partnership between the two companies, Shoji Takahashi, CEO of SLT said, “I want to take this opportunity to extend my gratitude to Abans/A-Z Electronics partnering with us to make our pre-paid services available to more customers.

The company’s branch network as well as franchising units allows the SLT pre-paid card to reach a much larger consumer base. This is of great benefit to our customers as it will be convenient to purchase.”

Commenting further, Ajith Waidyalankara, Director, AZ Electronics (Pvt) Ltd, said, “We welcome the opportunity in forming a business partnership with SLT, especially in terms of the SLT Pre-paid card being an additional product for our wide consumer base.

The company will now be in a position to improve the presence of its pre-paid cards across the island, along with it being an additional source of revenue for us. We also hope that the partnership between the two companies grow from strength to strength in future.”

The business partnership between is beneficial to the customer as it will be more convenient with regards to purchasing a pre paid card, as it will be available in a wider range of sales outlets through an authorised dealer.

Also it is a win - win position for both companies, as customers will have access to communication products and household goods under one roof.

Sri Lanka Telecom (www.slt.lk) is one of the country’s most valuable blue chip companies with an annual turnover in excess of Rs 40 billion. SLT Group has a customer base of over two million including multinational corporations, large and small corporate, retail and domestic customers.

With a view to making Sri Lanka a broadband island, SLT is in the process of introducing the necessary infrastructure in the form of NGN [Next Generation Networks] using optical fiber backbone and broadband services such as IMS, IPTV.
