Nabbed lorry with explosives not Health Ministry's

The lorry taken into custody at Thekkawatta checkpoint while
transporting explosives did not belong to the Healthcare and Nutrition
Ministry of the Central Government and the Ministry strongly denied the
UNICEF's statement and press release which said that the Ministry
granted permission to transport BP 100 Therapeutic Food, Healthcare and
Nutrition Ministry spokesman said.
He said that Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry of the Central
Government has not given permission to UNICEF to transport BP 100
Therapeutic Food to Killinochchi.
The lorry belonged to the Northern Provincial Council and the
District Health Services Director does not have authority to grant
permission.
When the ministry summoned Dr.Sathyamurthi, Director, Health
Services, Killinochchi District he accepted the fact that the lorry
belongs to the Northern Provincial Council and the workers arrested with
the lorry also belong to his office. |
