Indian Navy detains nine fishermen

The Indian Navy has detained nine fishermen of Rameswaram in mid-sea and refused to divulge the reason for the same.

According to sources, the situation at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) is tense owing to the clashes between Lankan forces and the LTTE.

It is said that the Lankan Forces have placed mines in the sea waters to prevent LTTE militants' infiltration into the mainland.

According to sources fishermen have strictly been warned away from the IMBL because of the presence of several mines.

The mines have been plunged into the sea between Delft Island and Katchativu to destroy the LTTE boats when they trespass IMBL.
