Massive development projects launched in Aranayake

The Government has taken steps to develop Aranayake electorate through Gama Neguma, Maga Neguma and Jathika Saviya programmes, said Lalith Dissanayaka, Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine, Sabaragamuwa PC and SLFP Chief Organiser to the Daily News.

A major part of Aranayake constituency in Kegalle district is typically rural and under-developed and is the home to some of the most indigent families in Kegalle district with a very low income.

Though several governments in the past made various pledges to the voters during election periods to do much to raise the living conditions of the remote rural families, but to no avail. But under present government a lot of development activities are taking place. Through Gama Neguma and Jathika Saviya and Maga Neguma the present government has taken several steps to develop this rural electorate.

Rural electricity schemes, widening and development of motorable roads and connecting those to major routes, creating access to underdeveloped rural areas through new motorable roads and to make an area of panoramic beauty for foreign and local tourist attraction etc. are on the cards.

The Chief Organiser, Aranayake electorate of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Lalith Dissanayake Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine of Sabaragamuwa PC plays a major role in the new development process.

The "Parent Samurdhi Society" of Aranayake has constructed over four hundred latrines for the poor families to uplift their health conditions.

The Samurdhi Officers of respective areas are vigilant of the needs of the rural communities and through self-help and co-operation and support of the Samurdhi organisation, a lot of needs of the people is attended to.
