Volleyball tourney to pick young talent
The Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation has taken steps to conduct a
Junior Volleyball tournament which will also serve as a trial to pick
junior spikers (Boys and Girls). The final stage of the tournament will
be played at the Bandaranaike International Memorial Conference Hall
premises on February 6, 7 and 8 along with 'Deyata Kirulak' Exihibtion.
The tournament is to be conducted in three stages District,
Provincial and National level.
The national level stage is considered as the final trial which will
be staged at the Bandaranayake International Memorial Conference
Premises on February 6, 7, and 8 along with the Deyata Kirulak
Exhibition which too will be of vital importance to the youth of this
country.
The tournament was designed by the SLVBF with the sole intention of
finding the hidden talent from all over the country and to pick the best
to form the two pools in preparation for the Asian Junior Volleyball
Championships.
The Provincial stages are to commence on Jan. 29-30 with the
Sabaragamuwa Province matches at Rajasinghe MMV, Ruwanwella while all
other districts play matches on Jan.30and 31 atSenanayake MV,
MAdampe,(Wayamba), Vijitha MMV, Dickwella,(Southern), Univresty Courts,
Peradeniya, (edntral),
Municipal Courts, Ampara, (Eastern) Dudley Senanayake MV,
Hingurakgoda, (North Central), MoneragalaMunicipal Courts, (Uva),
meanwhile the Westren Province matches are to beplayed on Feb. 2 and 3
at Davisamara MMV, Seeduwa, Boys born on or after 1-1-91 are eligible to
compete in the boys section while the Girls should be born on or after
02-01-92.
All interested should contact their respective organizers before
entry forms are handed over.
The winners and runners up at the two stage s District and Provincial
too will be awarded cash awards in addition to trophies. There are
special awards on offer for Best Performers. |
