Workshop for rugby coaches

For the first time a Coaching and Training workshop for Rugby Coaches
(Junior Level) was held at the St'Peter's College auditorium on 19th and
20th January.
This training workshop with Practical and Theory was conducted by Rob
Yule (Sri Lanka National Rugby Coach), Sanath Martis (Sri Lanka Junior
National Coach) and Mothilal Jayathilake (Sri Lanka National Rugby
Physical Trainer) which was organised by the Western Province Rugby
Football Union (WPRFU) Development.
A good turn out of more than 50 participants from schools and clubs
took part in this two day coaching and training stint.
This Programme is the brain child of Fazal Mohamed (Past President
WPRFU) assisted by N. J. Mudannayaka (Coordinator WPRFU).
Rizly Illyas (Chairman Development Committee WPRFU) was delighted to
see the participation of these Junior Coaches from Western Province
Schools and Clubs who had shown their enthusiasiam and All Participants
were awarded certificates on coaching and training work shop along with
a handbook on rugby schedule at the end of this programme.
According to Rizly Illyas the entusiasiam shown by the participants
in this programme will be further carried forward by the WPRFU on a
monthly basis in line of bringing these coaches to the next level .
Illyas also thanked Asanga Seneviratna (President WPRFU) in finding
the necessary sponsorship with regard in continuation of this programme. |
