LTTE will be wiped out - PM
Dayaratna Kumarasinghe, Kalutara District Group Corr.
LTTE terrorists reeling under successive defeats suffered at the
hands of Security Forces are now restricted to two areas in the north
only. The humanitarian operation launched by the Government to liberate
the Northern people from the clutches of terrorists will be continued
until the terrorists are totally wiped out from their remaining pockets,
said Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake.
The Prime Minister said so addressing a meeting which followed the
opening of the Horana new police station built at a cost of Rs. 40
million on January 18. The Prime Minister said, "As Sri Lankans we have
no other country to seek refuge.
Therefore, we should protect and safeguard our country with self
sacrifice without allowing barbaric terrorists to disintegrate it. The
terrorists today could not match the Security Forces which are
conducting their operations with the aid of high technology."
The Prime Minister said he would not divulge the day on which
terrorists would be totally wiped out and the war ended since it would
help the enemy.
Only an area of a few kilometres was left to be liberated from
terrorists' clutches and the people should help the forces to achieve
that objective by assisting police to keep peace and law and order in
their areas.
IGP Victor Perera said under Mahinda Chinthana it has been planned to
construct modern fully equipped buildings for ill-equipped police
stations in the Kalutara District.
Already Moragahahena, Dodangoda and Panadura and Horana Police
stations have been provided with new buildings under this programme. New
buildings would also be provided to 40 more police stations throughout
the country.
Panadura SSP Sumith Edirisinghe, Horana SLFP Chief Organiser Vidura
Wickramanayake and Horana Police OIC Anura Randeniya also spoke. |
