Maheshwaran killing: Three more suspects arrested

Tuesday, took place yesterday at the General Cemetery, Kanatta.

Three more suspects were arrested in Jaffna on Wednesday in
connection with the assassination of Colombo district UNP MP T.
Maheshwaran. Investigations are progressing smoothly.
Following the arrest of the alleged assassin undergoing medical
treatment at the Colombo National Hospital, eight suspects were taken
into custody on Tuesday from Wattala.
“Three more suspects have been arrested in Jaffna following
information provided by the suspects arrested in Wattala”, Military
spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara told the Daily News.
Investigations are being carried out smoothly, police media spokesman
DIG N.K.Ilangakoon said.
Colombo Criminal Division Director SSP Anura Senanayake said a CCD
team are conducting investigations to ascertain the incident and trace
the culprits.
“We have difficulty in recording evidence and statements from the
main suspect as he is under medical treatment,” he said.
DIG Ilangakoon said no suspect was arrested in connection with the
explosion opposite Hotel Nippon in Slave Island on Wednesday which
killed four persons including two schoolchildren. |
