RCGC wins Burdett Trophy
Royal Colombo Golf Club drove up to Nuwara Eliya Golf Club recently
to participate in the annual Burdett Trophy.
The Burdett Trophy is the oldest golf tournament in the South East
Asia being played for a continuous period of 105 years.
The tournament is conducted as a team event both singles and
foursomes.
On the overall results Royal Colombo Golf Club beat Nuwara Eliya Golf
Club by 7 matches to 5 matches.
The Royal Colombo Golf Club team was captained by Ron Bakelmun who is
the present captain of the Royal Colombo Golf Club. The matches were
keenly contested and the weather was ideal for golf. The participant
lists are attached.
Anniversary Trophy
This golf tournament is conducted between Royal Colombo Golf Club and
Nuwara Eliya Golf Club and was played at Nuwara Eliya.
This trophy was awarded for the first time in 2004 which was the
125th anniversary of the Royal Colombo Golf Club. Royal Colombo Golf
Club beat Nuwara Eliya Golf Club comprehensively by 8 matches to 4. |
