Minister wishes prelate good health, long life
Religious Affairs Minister Pandu Bandaranayake in a message of
greetings to mark the 99th birthday of Ven. Weweldeniye Medhalankara
Mahanayake Thera of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Maha Nikaya today has wished
the prelate good health and long life to continue his services towards
the well-being of the Sri Sambuddha Sasana.
The message said Ven. Medhalankara Thera who was born at Weweldeniya
in 1909 entered the Order on May 26, 1923 at the Anuradhapura
Poorwaramaya.
After his education at the Nittambuwa Vidyananda Maha Pirivena, he
was appointed Parivenadhipati of Mirigama Sasanawardana Pirivena.
During his long Bhikkhu life, he has rendered immeasurable service
towards the people of Mirigama in particular and Buddhists throughout
this world in general.
As Mahanayake Thera of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Nikaya for the last nine
years, he has been rendering a dignified service to uphold the image and
tenets of the Nikaya with great dedication.
On behalf of the Government and on his personal behalf, the Minister
wished the prelate well. |
