Goat farming is now a profitable enterprise in Hambantota district.
The district is part of the dry zone and the natural vegetation in
the district comprises tropical dry plants and grass species.
The important trees in the region have become fodder for the goats.
The potentials in the goat milk industry remain untapped yet. Goat
meat industry also has not developed in the district due to religious
taboos.
Goat milk is more nutritive and contains eleven times more iron
compared with cows milk.
Goat breeding has become a profitable enterprise in the Hambantota
district because the financial investment is very low, requires less
