Standard Chartered initiatives for World AIDS Day
Standard Chartered Bank celebrated a year of HIV/AIDS initiatives on
World Aids Day as well as hosted an array of messages and programmes for
Staff and Customers in order to raise awareness on this special day.
Staff was provided with confidential, free HIV testing facilities as
well as oriented to the reality of Living with HIV through sessions
conducted by well-known social workers in the field. Customers were made
aware of the realities and threats of HIV/AIDS via ATM Messages and
messages included in their Bank Statements, which will be released on
World AIDS Day and carried throughout the month of December.
The Bank has continuously been working throughout the year, in
keeping with its global agenda to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS, by
leading the way in involving customers, suppliers, Governments and NGOs
in their initiatives.
Standard Chartered Bank was the official sponsor and the official
banker to the International Congress on AIDS in the Asia Pacific (ICAAP)
which was hosted in Sri Lanka recently and was one of the biggest
international gatherings in the country.
