Standard Chartered Bank celebrated a year of HIV/AIDS initiatives on World Aids Day as well as hosted an array of messages and programmes for Staff and Customers in order to raise awareness on this special day.

Staff was provided with confidential, free HIV testing facilities as well as oriented to the reality of Living with HIV through sessions conducted by well-known social workers in the field. Customers were made aware of the realities and threats of HIV/AIDS via ATM Messages and messages included in their Bank Statements, which will be released on World AIDS Day and carried throughout the month of December.

The Bank has continuously been working throughout the year, in keeping with its global agenda to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS, by leading the way in involving customers, suppliers, Governments and NGOs in their initiatives.

Standard Chartered Bank was the official sponsor and the official banker to the International Congress on AIDS in the Asia Pacific (ICAAP) which was hosted in Sri Lanka recently and was one of the biggest international gatherings in the country.

CEO Standard Chartered Bank, Clive Haswell said, "Our response to managing HIV/AIDS in the workplace in all our markets is based on the commercial imperative to ensure that we have a healthy and stable workforce.
