Rathnayake, a soccer star
Fourteen-year-old B.M. Chaturabandara Rathnayake of Maliyadeva
College, Kurunegala is one of the most outstanding young soccerites in
the North Western Province today.
He started his soccer from Maliyadeva College as a under-13 player
was selected for the Sri Lanka under-13 national Soccer Pool in 2005.
He toured Bangladesh in 2005 with Sri Lanka under-13 team and scored
one and only goal that helped to the Sri Lanka team to defeat Bangladesh
team in 2006.
He represented the under-14 Sri Lanka National Team and toured
Pakistan and Maldives in 2006. His recent achievement was the
representation of Sri Lanka under-16 soccer team and toured Saudi Arabia
for the Asian Selection Tournament held earlier this year. |
