University of Kelaniya wins gold in football

9th University Games:

University of Kelaniya won the gold medal for football at the 9th University Games which are currently being hosted by the University of Kelaniya. The football matches were played on Saturday at University of Kelaniya.

They won the gold medal by beating Southeastern University in the final. Since both teams failed to score a goal during regular play time, both teams were given penalties. Finally, Kelaniya won 4 goals to 2.

University of Kelaniya team beat University of Peradeniya and the Southeastern University beat the Wayamba University in the semi-final games.

Peradeniya and the Southeastern Universities clashed for the third place and Peradeniya won the game.
