Think twice before eating Mugunuwenna in Mahaweli C Zone

The weed alligoter that scientists say contains a poisonous chemical that may cause cancer, is growing among Mugunuvenna in the Mahaweli C Zone, a local health official said.

Lalith Dayavansa, Public Health Inspector, Siripura area who warned the public about this, was seen making vegetable vendors aware of this plant at the weekly fair.

The PHI explained that the two plants are identical and it is very difficult to differentiate them till the two plants blossom.
