Air Force in 82-62 win over Puttalam
Sri Lanka Air Force Basketball Club overwhelmed Puttalam Basketball
Association by 82 points to 62 after being well ahead at 60 points to 28
at half time on the second day of the 45th Senior National men’s
Basketball Championship now being progress at the Depot Police courts,
Bambalapitiya and played in last evening. The tournament is being
conducted by the Basketball Federation of Sri Lanka.
R. Ravi played an outstanding game for the winners with a massive 32
points who was well supported by Indika Wijesinghe with 25 points. Anton
Niroshan with nine points and Roshel Mendis with eight points were the
main scorers for Puttalam Basketball Association.
Sri Lanka Schools cagers beat Colombo Basketball Association by a
margin of 70 points 62 in a women’s fixture played at St. Joseph’s
Girl’s School’s, courts, Nugegoda, yesterday. The former took a
commanding 37 points to 17 lead at breather.
Nayanika Dhasani (22), Sulochana Ratnasekara (16) and Anjali
Ekanayake (12) stood out for Schools team while Prasadi Fonseka and
Shanali Weerasuriya with 21 points apiece and Shashikala Romen with 14
points did well for the losers.
Colombo Basketball Association defeated Sri Lanka Schools BA by 79
points to 64 after leading 28 points to 14 at the short whistle in a
men’s match played at Depot Police, courts. S.D.Y. de Silva (22) and
Chameera Ratnayake (15) were the best shooters for Colombo BA while R.
Gomes and K.S. Sulakshana was on target with 17 points each for Schools
