Matara Thomians - soccer champions

S. Thomas’ College Matara emerged champions at the under 18 all-island inter-schools 10-a-side Division II Rugby Tournament when they beat Devapathiraja College, Ratgama also from the south, at the finals by 13 points (a goal and two penalties) to nil.

This tournament was conducted at Bandarawela on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 organised by the Uva Schools Rugby Football Association in association with the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association where 27 schools from all parts of the country participated.

STC Matara went into lead with an penalty put over by their skipper M. N. Althaf in the first half. However Althaf added extra points when he put over a 40-yard try touched down by B. A. Gomaz in the second half.
