State company to the fore in construction

The State Development and Designing Corporation (SDDC) has been
playing a significant part in the development of construction and
engineering sector for more than 36 years.
The SDDC established in 1971 to promote and uplift the construction
industry, has successfully completed highway, irrigation and hydro power
projects, building construction, bridges and deforestation and land
reclamation projects.
The Corporation has constructed more than 300 bridges islandwide.
The Corporation has commenced Rs. 3,310 million worth large scale
construction projects out of them Rs. 1,100 million worth projects are
progressing.
Addressing the 36th annual ceremony of SDDC at the Corporation
Auditorium, Construction and Engineering Service Minister Rajitha
Senaratne said he has great responsibility to develop the SDDC as a
lucrative venture and enhance the benefits of the employees protecting
their privileges.
Minister Senaratne said he has drawn several plans to achieve this
target.
He said the employees too have a significant responsibility to
complete the construction work by the due date.
Privatisation is not a mean to increase the income of the
Corporation. |
