Susantha Fernando sends Letter of Demand to Bribery Commission

Finance Ltd. Susantha Fernando has sent a letter of demand claiming a
sum of Rs. 200m from the Director General of Bribery and Corruption for
causing damage to his dignity and reputation by arresting him and
proceeding against him on or about December 12, 2003.
Senior Counsel J.J. Rajakaruna for Susantha Fernando stated in the
letter of demand that the institution of judicial proceedings against
his client was done maliciously and without reasonable and probable
cause.
It’s further stated judicial proceedings in the Magistrate’s Court
No. 1 received much public attention in the electronic and print media.
Such proceedings were unduly protracted and belatedly terminated on
August 1, 2007 in view the fact that there were no material warranting
institution of such proceedings against his client -Susantha Fernando. |
