Legal empowerment of poor key to equal justice

Equal Justice is a myth without legal empowerment of poor, said Legal Aid Commission Chairman S. S. Wijeratne. Wijeratne was speaking at the opening of the Mawanella Legal Aid Centre recently.

He said the LAC’s mission will be accomplished as long as there is a one citizen who cannot go before Courts due to lack of money.

Justice Hector S. Yapa. Mawanella District Judge Sampath Bandara Abeykoon, members of the Mawanella Bar led by its President Bandara Aluthwatta also participated. The Mawanella LAC Centre is located at 71/5J - 1/1, Highway Complex, Kandy Road, Mawanella.

The Coordination attorney-at-Law is Nilushi Jayasinghe.
