Eight Tigers killed

EIGHT LTTE cadres were killed and several others injured during a confrontation with the Security Forces in Vavuniya on Thursday, a spokesman for the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said.

According to the spokesman, three LTTE cadres were killed during a confrontation with the Security Forces in Palamottai, Vavuniya around 9.30 a.m.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident three Tigers were killed by the Security Forces in Kaduruvittamkulam, Vavuniya at around 11.00 a.m., the MCNS spokesman added.

In a separate incident, Security Forces successfully repulsed an LTTE attack killing two Tigers in Parappankandal, Vavuniya at around 11.30 a.m.

Meanwhile, an LTTE pressure mine blast killed six soldiers in Kalmadu, Vavuniya last morning, the MCNS said.
