Investigation into alleged display of naked bodies

The Government has ordered a full scale inquiry into the alleged
display of naked bodies of the LTTE ‘Black Tigers’ who participated in
Monday’s attack on the Anuradhapura Air Force Base.
Government Defence Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella told the
media yesterday that an impartial inquiry will be held into the incident
which allegedly took place when the bodies were being transported to the
Anuradhapura hospital.
“The bodies of the dead LTTE cadres were strapped with explosives.
Therefore, their clothes had to be removed for the safety of those
transporting the bodies and the people in the hospital. However, they
were enclosed in black polythene bags before transport, according to the
normal procedure,” he said.
The Minister said that the incident in question could have happened
after that.
“We do not believe in humiliating the dead. Therefore, an
investigation has been launched into the incident,” he said adding that
the bodies were subsequently buried on the order of the Magistrate.
