Forces repulse attack on FDL, 15 Tigers killed

Heavy fighting erupted between the Security Forces and the LTTE in Kuduruvittankulam, Vavuniya on Monday morning. The Security Forces successfully repulsed the attack killing over 15 LTTE cadres including a female Tiger leader and injuring many others, Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.

According to Brigadier Nanayakkara a group of LTTE cadres attempted to breach the Forward Defence Lines of Kuduruvittankulam, Vavuniya on Monday at around 4.50 am.

“The Security Forces successfully obstructed the LTTE infiltration,” he added.

He said intercepted to the LTTE communication revealed that 15 Tiger cadres were killed including a female Tiger leader. “She has been identified as Shanthi,” he added.

A search operation was launched in the area.
