People’s Voices
Over to you Municipal Commissioner Dehiwela-Mt. Lavinia
This is in reference to my letter to the Electrical Engineer (CEB),
Dehiwela-Mt. Lavinia area, as regards a street light not functioning at
our Kalubowila Wimalasiri Road (Old Kalubowila Road), Dehiwela, that
appeared in the Daily News ‘People’s Voice’ column of June 13, 2007, and
I was glad that the electrical engineer in question was kind enough to
take prompt attention on this matter, addressing a letter, by his Ref.
No. WPS/DEC/Misc/12 of June 15, 2007 to you (the Municipal Commissioner
Dehiwela-Mt. Lavinia area), for necessary action early, with a copy to
me, per hand delivery, stating clearly that the street light demarcation
does not come within his purview and requested you (MC, Dehiwela-Mt.
Lavinia) to attend to the said matter - Thanks to the EE (CEB), anyway.
Regret, so far, up to date, no fruitful or proper action, has been
taken by your Municipality officials regarding the not functioning of
one of the street lights on our road.
Already six months had gone and still the people of the area are in
the black-out state (darkness) and undergoing a lot of inconveniences
and immense hardships.
The children and women in particular of this place, fear very much of
thieves and pickpocketers, etc. Why there is a delay? Please be good
enough to look into this matter and provide us the regular functioning
of the said street power-light, at your earliest in the interest and
relief of the citizens and residents of the area.
