hSenid goes to Kandy

hSenid, an application and service provider is in Kandy now to commence a research lab in the Peradeniya University.

hSenid trains a selected number of students from the Peradeniya University on of software development and assist them to develop applications. The research centre is in the process of developing mobile applications on Open Source platforms which will be deployed as Free and open source Software.

This gives the students an opportunity to gather insight and the relevant knowledge. Since the programme is only on part time basis the students get hands on experience while they are studying.

“A golden opportunity has been created for the undergraduates of Peradeniya University to have an awareness on various projects with close collaboration with the industry. This may be a new learning experience for our local undergraduates but a very common phenomenon in Western countries,” Executive Director of hSenid Software Sujee Saparamadu said.

“We are extremely proud of our students who made this project a success. This is a clear and strong evidence to the industry of the potential our students possess. This is the first milestone of a never ending road we have to travel, and I am very confident that we pass one milestone after the another steadily on the way ahead, said Head of Computer Engineering Department Dr. Manjula Sandirigama.


SLT to provide communication solutions for AAI

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) signed an agreement with Asian Alliance Insurance PLC (AAI), to provide communication solutions to enhance its business activities.

An agreement was signed to provide total voice communication solutions comprising of a state of the art PABX infrastructure and inter-branch communication system. As a result of this enhancement AAI will enjoy the facility of seamless connectivity for communication between the head office and its islandwide branch network.

Broadband Internet and inter branch data communication system via IP/VPN solution which is capable of carrying voice and mission critical data securely and reliably is already in place as the backbone infrastructure of AAI.

Ensuring the safety of their valuable customer data, AAI has already hosted their data at the SLT iDC (internet Data Centre) located at SLT head office.

Group Product Manager of EPSI Computers, Sankha Jayaratne said that the 3-year warranty will provide ASUS notebook users a cost free maintenance for three years, and thereby making this a value for money product.
