for the export market,
Manager-Marketing, Phillip Mullegama said.
Once the factory starts commercial operations it will start exporting
to countries such as Ukraine, Russia and other CIS countries. The
company wants to encourage local farmers from various areas across Sri
Lanka to grow herbals for the company to purchase herbals at a cheaper
cost without importing herbals from India, Mullegama said.
The factory will provide direct employment to 400 and 4,000
self-employment opportunities. It has obtained many certificates such as
the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) European certificate and the ISO
standards certificates.
The factory will be set up on a six acre land. They will grow over
350 varieties of medicinal herbs used for their products in this
compound.
They will also set up herbal collecting centres in other villages.
This would also provide employment opportunities to many herb growing
farmers in the country, Mullegama said.
In keeping with vision of the company to be the global herbal
cosmetic producer and supplier in 2010, the company is now planning to
participate at the Russia’s biggest cosmetic exhibition this year and
the world’s largest exhibition in Italy. |
