Lanka for peaceful nuclear projects in Iran
Sri Lankan ambassador to Tehran Muhammad Zuhair has voiced support
for Iran's right to attain peaceful nuclear technology.
Expressing support for Iran-IAEA negotiations, Zuhair asserted that
the International Atomic Energy Agency's conventions allows Iran to
conductnuclear researches.
The ambassador denounced the spread of rumours of a attack against
Iran and voiced doubt about such a move adding that Sri Lanka opposed
the imposition of new sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
Zuhair added that President Mahinda Rajapaksa's meeting with
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the sideline of the UN General Assembly
in New York would pave the way for the further expansion of Iran-Sri
Lanka ties.
