Over to you Environment Minister

Residents of Polhengoda Road, Narahenpita are facing a lot of difficulties due to sound pollution which comes from Allenmethiniyaramaya.

Most of the religious functions held at this place of religious worship specially between 4.30 pm and 8.00 pm daily using loudspeakers in hi-sounds.

Loud music is aired for long periods of time. Further we wish to say most of the preaching are recorded and not aired live. We don't have any objections to quiet religious services.

If there is any service or function, it should be conducted in a calm and silent manner. Then only it will have a positive effect to the human life. Buddhists do not subscribe to the playing of loud music at temple functions.

Well done, Department of Vehicles Maligakanda

Recently I went to the above office to get my new revenue licence for my vehicle. I found it was a service department that had streamlined the processing and issuing of the licence.

Within a time of two to three minutes without my having to get down from my vehicle I got my new licence. It was a drive in counter which was used by vehicle drivers and motorcyclists.

Those who came by foot were directed to another counter, which also issued the licence without any hassle and quickly.

The system had ended ques and brokers as the banners hanging said. Congratulations and best wishes to the person who conceived this project and also to those who are implementing it and hopefully that it will continue forever.
