The historic event of producing fertiliser for the first time by
Lanka Phosphate Ltd will be inaugurated today at the Eppawala site which
would bring revenue to the Government.
Lanka Phosphate Ltd Chairman Koggala Wellala Bandula said the company
had provided only raw material to the market and certain foreign
companies in the country manufactured fertiliser for Sri Lankan
consumption while the rest was imported.
“We are taking another step ahead in deciding to manufacture
fertiliser for rubber plantation and introduce to the market under the
name Eppawala Rubber Fertiliser at a cheaper rate,” Bandula said. “We
plan to manufacture the fertiliser according to the demand”.
He told the Daily News that they held many sales promotion campaigns
in Kalutara, Kurunegala and Anuradhapura.
“The response was satisfactory and there was a good demand for the
samples,” Bandula said.
He said they conducted researchers on manufacturing fertiliser for a
long period which has already completed.
The company decided to manufacture fertiliser for coconut cultivation
under Eppawala Coconut fertiliser by January next year and Single Super
Phosphate for paddy cultivation in the mid of next year.
Bandula said the company had not yet decided the price of the
fertiliser. |
