Hatton National Bank to commemorate the 10th year anniversary of the bank's flagship product Shanthi Housing Loans the bank decided to bring about a positive change to the lives of the Padiyathalawa community providing a new lease of life to its inhabitants.

Managing Director/CEO R. Theagarajah and the CSR team with the recipient and his family soon after donating a new house.

 by the numerous Government agencies.

On July 11, the foundation stones for the houses were laid by Deputy General Manager, Personal Banking HNB, Chandula Abeywickrema.

This initiative brought in a fresh wave of hope and excitement to the once isolated fisher village.

After completion of the 15 houses due to high demand for housing as well other needs of the villagers the bank ended up completing 29 brand new houses, 70 fishing nets provided through the bank's Gami Pubuduwa micro finance scheme and a complete library for the village school.

Plans are also under way to construct a modern trading centre which will pave the way for financial growth for the fishing village.

The transformation that occurred after completion of the houses was unbelievable as this structure was the first of its kind to the entire village.

The completed houses were handed over to the villagers by Managing Director and CEO of HNB Rajendra Theagarajah at a simple ceremony to coincide with the bank's opening of the Mahiyangana Branch which is currently the 161st customer service centre.
