Public-private partnership vital for sustainable development

THE public-private partnership will be very effective in sustainable
development projects” Secretary, Ministry of Education Ariyaratne Hewage
chief guest at the MAS Eco Go Beyond Schools Sustainability Awards
Ceremony at the BMICH on Tuesday said.
He stated that the world is at a crossroad today and sustainability
development is a new facets emerged with the growth of the economy and
the economic, social and environmental development should go hand in
hand for sustainable development.
He insisted that it is the time to change the attitude of expecting
everything from the Government.
The MAS Eco Go Beyond initiative to empower the next generation with
sustainability commenced last year to internalise sustainability through
school projects and eighty schools participated in this programme out of
which the best three schools were awarded cash prizes and trophies.
Walagedara Maha Vidyalaya Matugama, Prajapathi Balika Vidyalaya and
Devi Balika Vidyalaya won the three prizes.
The fourth to sixth places were won by Kamburupola Maha Vidyalaya,
Pannala Maha Vidyalaya and Don Pedric Maha Vidyalaya.
The hard work, talent and enthusiasm of the schools were recognised
and rewarded the best performers at the ceremony.
Managing Director MAS Holdings Ajay Amaleen, congratulating the
winners requested them to be role models in their generation and
continue the project for the sustainable development of the country.
PIM President Dr Uditha Liyanage, environmentalist Irangani
Serasinghe and Director MAS Corporate Branding and Strategic CSR Ravi
Fernando were also present. |
